Product Review: Moman Tabletop Mini Tripod

Highly Recommended: Heavy duty, multiple mounting opportunities, all metal.

Made of CNC aluminium alloy this all-metal tripod is durable and functional with multiple mounts. The tripod is small enough to be hand-held if required and heavy-duty enough to support 170lbs/80kg (according to the manufacturer.

The tripod comes with a dual mounting bolt that can accept both 3/8” or ¼” screw mounts. With the legs extended and the weight capacity even large DSLR’s can be supported (depending on lens length). Even though it is all metal and has a high weight capacity it’s still small enough for smartphone mounts, light panels, microphones, field monitors, camcorders, etc.

Compared to the Manfrotto pixie, the Moman tripod is much more durable and heavy-duty, unfortunately it’s also much more heavy-duty, which means heavier. Where a Manfrotto or gorilla pod can easily be used for walking and vlogging. The Moman can get heavy and may not be as functional, depending on your needs.

The legs have two lock settings wide open or locked at a standard tripod angle. When wide open the legs can be moved independent so rough terrain can be accommodated.

The legs have two ¼” screw mounts on them so additional items can be mounted to the legs and there are slats in the legs to allow straps to go through them so the legs can be mounted or secured.

The option I purchased also had a ball head when purchased with the ball head it came with a padded travel case and straps.

The ball head is just average. It’s fairly stiff and not real fluid for video panning. If you want to lock the camera in a fixed location it’ll do the trick. Video panning won’t be as successful. However, for the price, the ball head is an inexpensive add on and you do get the padded travel case.

This is my go to mini tripod only because I know it won’t break and I can mount anything to it. I use if for timelapse or long exposure shots, and it’s perfect to mount accessories.
Pros:
Heavy Duty
Dual mounting bolts
Locking legs
Accessory mounts
Cons:
Heavier than most tabletop tripods
The metal gets cold fast if you’re using it in the winter or wet weather
Ball head is average, but with the universal mount you can attach any ball head if you don’t like theirs.
I’ve been using mine for a year, it’s great and a fairly inexpensive accessory to add to your camera bag.
