After my trusty Breville smoker took a tumble off the kitchen countertop, I have been searching for an alternative. I found the Breville to be unstable when standing and connected to a cover. I wanted a stable one that pumped out lots of smoke. The cover had to be glass and not plastic.

After trial and error, I found this option to be the best I’ve tried. The cover is glass (there is some smoke leakage, but nothing significant. I find putting a towel down first minimizes the leakage). The secret to any smoking device is to turn it on first to create the suction; use a kitchen torch or cigar lighter (a standard light doesn’t work as well).

As you can see in the video, it works great! You can cold rinse your glass and add ice. Smoke the glass and ice while you’re preparing the cocktail and pour it into the smokey glass, or prepare you’re cocktail and smoke the finished product.

I also recommend removing the top frequently and soaking it in dish soap. Because of the large volume of smoke a lot of oils and residue get accumulated. I find this can impact the quality of the smoke smell, it’s better when it’s clean.
